The Newmarket Hawks picked up a tidy 9-3 home win on Tuesday night at the hands of the visiting Ajax Spartans.
Christian Mullen(1-0) worked five innings for the win, with Andrew Raponi and Len Wood chipping in a couple innings each on the mound for Newmarket. Darcy Moore went deep for the now 2-0 Hawks, a solo shot to lead off the four run third. Bryn Sanford went 4-4 in the win scoring a couple of runs.
For the now 1-2-1 Spartans, Josh Essery(1-2) took the loss and both Matt Krettek and rookie Jacob Bonzon had a pair of hits in a losing effort.
