The GTBL is ready for another summer of baseball, as all six teams return in the hunt for a league title and ultimately the provincial crown. Prize money will again be awarded to the league pennant winner and second place regular season finisher. The twenty five game season ends in late August with a six team double knockout tournament to determine the 2024 league champion. The Thornhill Reds are looking to defend their back to back titles, having claimed the Alex Stanley playoff trophy in both 2022 and '23.
Games kick off this Thursday at Talbot Park in Leaside, where the Leafs will host the East York Bulldogs on opening night 2024.
One other date to circle on your GTBL calendar for 2024 is June 18 in Newmarket. That night the Hawks will host the Thornhill Reds for the first time since the untimely passing of GTBL veteran Dan Lehmkuhl. Having played with the Reds for many years before his final handful in the green and gold, the GTBL will be holding a pre game ceremony at the Fairgrounds that night. Friends, family and many members of the baseball community will be on hand to pay tribute to someone we all lost much too soon.
