Of the twelve teams who attended the inaugural CABC Gold Bat senior tournament in Sarnia this past weekend, the Newmarket Hawks were the best of the bunch, bringing home the championship trophy and a cool $1500 prize pool.

Tyler Lansley was a standout for Newmarket and was named MVP of the weekend after leading the Hawks to victory. Newmarket beat the hometown Brigade in the thrilling 5-2 final, backed by a CG effort from Josh Appel on the mound. Other wins came against Tecumseh(10-0), WAA(12-2), Windsor Stars(5-3), and a round robin tie with Burlington at 4-4. The only blemish on the weekend was a 5-3 loss to the Oakville A's on Saturday afternoon.

Congratulations to manager Matt Richard and the rest of the Hawks on a great weekend!

A great event was hosted by the CABC and the Sarnia Brigade on some beautiful playing surfaces, which were well attended to over the weekend, and saw some excellent baseball. Three GTBL teams attended, with both the champion Hawks, and Thornhill Reds making it to the semi finals. Here are the weekends results.
